The Mazovia Police participates in the POLIIICE project

The EU-funded POLIIICE (Powerful Lawful Interception, Investigation, and Intelligence) project was launched on October 1, 2022. The project is implemented under the grant agreement No. 101073795 as a part of the Horizon Europe program. The consortium consists of 22 international institutions, including the Masovian Police (KWPR), which is also a consortium partner in the NOTIONES project. During POLIIICE KWPR will contribute to the project’s activities through its forensic laboratory.

The project aims to bring European security services into a new era of investigation and intelligence. It will make it possible to combat threats resulting from new communication technologies, i.e. 5G and IOT, application-level communications (such as Whatsapp, Telegram, Signal Slack and others) and encryption algorithms resistant to the decryption power of quantum computers.

The kickoff meeting was held on October 19th-20th, 2022, in Munich, Germany at the University of Applied Sciences for the Police Service. The event was attended by representatives of all institutions, which are involved in the project. The program of the event included presentations with information on the work of each organization in the various work packages.

The meeting was opened by project coordinator Dr. Holger Nitsch from the Police Department of the University of Applied Sciences for the Police Service in Bavaria, after which each consortium partners briefly introduced her/his institution, its priorities and tasks, and role in the project. The opening was then followed by a session with the project officer from the European Commission. Day two was divided into sessions during which individual work package leaders, together with the project coordinator, discussed their work and roles. Next, the project’s external advisory board and its function were introduced. In addition, they discussed the tasks related to the management of the project and the dissemination of the results by all consortium partners. The meeting ended with a brief summary and presentation of the tasks in the upcoming months.
